Jeep Wrangler vs. Jeep Gladiator: Which One Fits You?
The Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator share the same open-air design and trail ability. The big difference is what's behind the back seat. Here's how to choose, from the Jeep team at Coastline CDJR in San Juan Capistrano.
What is the main difference between the Wrangler and the Gladiator?
The Wrangler is an SUV with a cargo area behind the seats. The Gladiator is a midsize pickup with a five-foot bed. Both have removable doors, a removable roof, a fold-down windshield and real 4x4 systems.
Which is better for daily driving and parking?
The Wrangler. It's shorter, so it's easier to park at the beach or in tight lots, and it turns more tightly. The Gladiator's longer wheelbase gives it a smoother ride on the freeway.
Which is better for towing and hauling?
The Gladiator. The open bed handles dirt bikes, coolers and camping gear, and it generally tows more than a Wrangler. Towing ratings vary by trim and equipment, so ask us for the exact numbers on the truck you're looking at.
Which is better off road?
Both are very capable, especially in Rubicon trim. The Wrangler's shorter length helps on tight trails. The Gladiator's length helps it stay stable on long climbs and descents.
Can I get a two-door?
The Wrangler comes as a two-door or a four-door. The Gladiator comes only with four doors.
Is there a plug-in hybrid option?
The Wrangler has been offered as the 4xe plug-in hybrid. The Gladiator uses a gas V6. Ask our team which versions are in stock now.
Can I see both side by side?
Yes. We keep both on the lot in San Juan Capistrano, so you can sit in each and test drive them back to back.
